Yes, we are both aware that halloween isn't until sunday. But all the themed events in town were tonight so we decided to move halloween up a day.

My favourite earthling went as Artemis Fowl if the fangirls had their way with him (also known as; if Artemis were a fairy the whole inter-species intense age gap romance thing would be infinitely less icky)

We had a boatload of fun, went into town, mocked some bad literature at the book store, saw some fabulous drag queens...

I went as a Vulcan engineering officer. Or a token red-shirt, whichever you pick.

Firstly; I've finally managed to figure out a lighting/background setup that takes decent photos. Hooray! That photo only had the contrast cranked up by ten percent, and the omg added. I'm quite chuffed. Lack of necessary editing!

I went grocery shopping today. As I searched for a replacement shampoo, what did I spy? Why, the newest spf sunscreen! Factor 100! My skin shall remain unburnt and cancer free! Double hooray!

I'm probably more excited about high SPF sunscreen than I should be.

Oh the small things that amuse me...

The problem with living with camera-shy people...

Is you end up doing a lot of self portraits, and coming across as really vain. I'm not, honest! (Maybe a little). I just like photographing people and I'm the only one in the house comfortable with having their face plastered all over the internet...

I don't enjoy growing hair out of short styles. Look how messy it's getting!

It's super fun to fling everywhere though.

First was interview. The sun was shining, I was prepared, things went reasonably well apparently after I gave people a blow by blow account of what I said. So goody on that front.

Then I came home. And realised I need a real-person job more than ever. And then I got a migraine. And it was really super not fun. And now my head hurts, and my video editing software wouldn't import any files so I couldn't make anything I'd been planning on.

My skull feels like it's in a vice right now, so I've taken copious amounts of painkillers and I'm going to go to bed and pass out now. Kthanxbai.

What can you do with a sonic screwdriver?

I really hope I got the coding right on this one. Also yes, I know it's out of focus. That's what I get for trusting the auto focus feature on my camera.

Should I taper it to my legs? I think it might look a little unprofessional pattern-wise if i want to take it in for my interview. Also I'm not sure I have the legs to wear what is essentially a pair of spandex tights. Hmmm...Thoughts?

Also I've changed the direction of the point for the ear moulds. I think it looks a bit more realistic. Plus the weight of an outwards facing tip pulled it out quite a ways from my head, which might cause problems considering how much I fiddle with my hair throughout the day.

The Relative is still here. So I've not been able to take photos for the most part. The rest of my family is remarkably camera shy.

Also I've been dragged out into The World against my will several times this week. The most amusing was taking The Relative to eat Dim Sum which she continues to pronounce as "dim sims" and think it refers to a particular dish within the dining experience. And she was very scared by the whole experience. I had a good time though. Om nom nom turnip cake nom

So yeah. Sorry. I suck. I'm hopefully going to get off my arse and do some work on my Armageddon Cosplay this evening, even if it's just cutting out the pants panels, so hopefully that'll be posted some time after midnight.

In which I sculpt elf ears

With fimo! At midnight. Horray for a lack of structured sleep-cycles!

I'm just messing around trying to get the shape right at the moment. After I settle on a shape I'll sculpt the other eat, bake them, and make a paper-mache' mold to pour the latex into.

At the moment I have a dis-embodied yellow ear hanging out on my desk. It's kind of amazing.

Yeah. In a desperate attempt to avoid having to converse with The Relative (because; always awkward. Especially when they keep asking when my holiday is over, or attempting to make conversation about sewing and I get excited to have someone to talk to and their eyes glaze over with lack of understanding half a minute it...) I have taken to spending EVER MOAR time on the internetz. Which is saying something considering my levels of internet consumption prior to their showing up.

This is totally what my hands looked like typing up that last paragraph.

I think about food a lot. Also I'm still thinking of something to post from today cause I've been having a frustratingly Relative-Filled couple of days which always gets me a bit defensive and apathetic.

My liquid latex arrived!

Whooo! I'm going to make ear moulds from modelling clay, then a reverse mould from the first model, then fill it with liquid latex mixed with flesh-coloured poster paint.

And then glue them to my ears and walk around as an elf. Because I am cool.

Also I made biscuits today and proceeded to eat the leftovers. It's like musli, only tasty.

In which I got bored, and made a video.

Yeah. More effort than taking a photo? Probably. But a Relative is in town for a couple of days and the awkward attempts to include me in the conversation coupled with awkward parental showing off of my work has resulted in my hiding a lot. Because I am an introvert. Yeah.

Yes, I did get them done up without too much difficulty, but this is why I wish I could go a lot longer between laundry loads. I had just got these jeans to optimum level of relaxed as well. I could do high kicks in them!
